What to prepare

For the workflow this product is designed around, gather:

  • Daily sales totals and their source reports
  • The cash figures used in your closing process
  • Labor-cost inputs for the same trading day

A practical way to use your records

Define the trading day consistently, particularly if service continues after midnight. Enter figures from the closing records, review differences and keep an explanation for adjustments. Compare the daily log with supporting reports before relying on a period summary.

A worked example

Fictional example: a restaurant closing routine reconciles cash in the drawer for one day.

Opening float
$100
Cash sales
$650
Documented cash payout
$40
Counted closing cash
$705
  1. Use the source cash-close records to check $100 opening float plus $650 cash sales less the $40 payout, outside the daily sales entry.
  2. Enter the resulting cash over/short figure in Daily Log, together with the date and an explanation in Notes; retain the count and payout evidence.

Result: Expected cash is $710, so the $705 count leaves a $5 shortfall. Record the shortfall in the daily row using the guide's sign convention. The sheet tracks that entered cash difference; these supporting drawer calculations are not additional promised input fields.

Fictional figures explain the workflow; they do not represent customer results or guarantee particular template fields. See the included features above and the current Etsy listing.
